Debbie is an educator at heart. Holding a master’s degree in Jewish education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, she spent the first 20 years of her career working for Jewish organizations, including the San Diego Jewish Academy and Jewish Federation of San Diego County. In 2014, Debbie made a career change, moving into the world of exotic spices and has launched her own spice company, SPICE + LEAF. Still passionate about education, Debbie now teaches how to cook with spices in easy-to-follow recipes and how to create more flavorful food through her Spice It Up with Deb cooking classes. For the last five years, Debbie has been a monthly contributor on Fox 5 San Diego Morning News. She is a guest cooking instructor for Rancho La Puerta Wellness Resort & Spa and has collaborated with Fortune 500 Companies, and has worked with non-profit organizations across the United States. Supporting her in this spice adventure is her amazing family; her husband, Rabbi David Kornberg, and her adult children, Michael and Rachel.
